Summary: Mission Partners, a Certified B Corp and women-owned social impact and communications consultancy, seeks candidates interested in a full-time Communications Strategist position to support account and project management for Mission Partners clients. We are especially interested in applicants with prior full-time agency experience; experience working at the intersection of public relations, philanthropy, and public policy; direct experience in public health communications; and a demonstrated commitment to racial justice.
Duties and Responsibilities
This position will serve as the day-to-day project manager on a public health account. It will also support on strategy, development, and execution of additional 2-3 client projects, including but not limited to primary and secondary research (gathering, analyzing, and reporting on outcomes and insights), writing, and project management. This strategist will work across various projects, leveraging skills in writing and editing, coordination of campaign project plans, and research.
Responsibilities
- Writing and editing across platforms
- Working with internal and client subject matter experts, crafting overall communications strategies, message frameworks, and campaigns that are culturally competent and inclusive
- Implementation of communications campaigns and digital marketing content
- Serve as a day-to-day account manager on one account while serving in a supporting role on 2-3 additional accounts.
- Support client relationships, providing project and task management, and solving problems with account teams while thinking strategically about how to solve client communications challenges.
- Develop news releases, fact sheets, social content, thought leadership and other communications needs as outlined in each client project. Work closely with a team of experts to ensure depth of technical and subject matter knowledge.
- Work closely with vendors—graphic design, social media, web, or videographers—to ensure client and agency campaigns are executed creatively, on time, and within budget.

As an internal working group, we will often meet once a week, at a mutually agreed upon time, to ensure that every team member clearly understands the objectives and that we collaborate to advance the client’s needs. We appreciate keeping the lines of communication between our teams open and active.

- Minimum three years experience working directly in public affairs, issues management, campaign development, or public relations for mission-driven organizations or causes.
- Prior full-time experience working in a communications/marketing agency, public affairs firm, or similar environment.
- Prior experience developing public health communications resources and messaging.
- Certification or degree in communications, business, journalism, or related field.
- Fluency with digital project management and communications tools (e.g., Asana, Microsoft Teams, Google Suite) and a proven track record of success in advancing marketing/communications goals.
- Experience in project phases, from initial strategy through tactical implementation.
- An understanding of inclusive and plain language practices and an ability to write across various channels and mediums.
- Strong organizational skills, familiarity with project management, and experience working in a client services environment.
- Positive attitude and a team player.
- Ability to manage and prioritize competing demands.
- Comfort working in a fully remote environment; experience participating in virtual, on-camera meetings with clients
Compensation and Benefits
Salary negotiation is inherently inequitable. Mission Partners is committed to salary transparency and pay equity. The non-negotiable starting salary for this position is $70,000.
