Marketing and Communications Manager

SRB Communications, LLC is a boutique full-service marketing, advertising and PR agency headquartered in Washington, D.C. We are seeking an experienced Marketing and Communications Manager with at least 10 - 12 years of experience and a deep knowledge of creating and executing “best-in-class” brand awareness, public education, and outreach and engagement campaigns. This position also requires the candidate to have project management and media relations experience, to drive key client-facing accounts across the agency. The Marketing and Communications Manager will be responsible for day-to-day management and execution of multiple clients’ marketing and communications strategies, coordination and execution of media relations, outreach and engagement, paid media and crisis communications activities across a variety of traditional and digital platforms, channels and initiatives – to enhance target audience exposure and experience. The ideal candidate will manage the strategy, creative and storytelling execution; optimization and reporting of marketing, communications, public relations, media outreach, crisis communications, brand advertising and paid media campaigns to enhance target audience exposure and experience. The candidate will provide strategic direction and input, and execution for account reporting, content and creative development, media pitches, storytelling (writing and editing), media plans, traditional, digital and social media buying and placement; measurement reporting, outreach and engagement activities and video production.

Responsibilities
Communications Strategy, Branding, Digital and Social Media

Drives communications planning, including the development and execution of strategies and tactics in line with the SRB team’s key industry priorities and overarching communications strategy in coordination with the SRB team to provide high-quality executions for our clients.

Provides ongoing management and execution of editorial calendars, content development, digital presence, blogs and newsletters for the agency and our clients. Supports the development of narrative building and storytelling for the SRB team and relevant campaigns and projects.

Works as a thought partner with the account manager and SRB's team leaders to develop communications and marketing approaches, prioritize campaigns and projects, provide guidance on meeting communications and marketing goals and manage capacity and budgets for communications work across the campaigns

Manages day-to-day SRB team communications work, providing direction and oversight to team members, supporting required operational processes, and ensuring high-quality, timely delivery of communications products aligned with SRB priorities and overall communications strategy.

Ensures alignment, coordination, and consistent priorities and messaging across the SRB team and key internal and external stakeholders, including marketing, communications, PR, outreach and engagement, and measurement reporting, metrics and analytics.

Manages and responds to incoming client requests on current and future work; collaborate with the team, external partners, and the public, ensuring appropriate prioritization and follow-up.

Leads tracking of communication, marketing, PR and brand advertising activities and progress and works with the account manager to optimize communications approaches and activities.

Monitors and incorporates communications, marketing and crisis communications best practices and digital, social and AI insights into ongoing communications planning and execution.

Performs other duties as assigned.

Responsibilities:
Marketing and Brand Advertising

  • Manage day-to-day client relationships, develop trusted advisor relationships with key customer account managers and stakeholders, craft and pitch fresh and innovative ideas to clients; create and execute brand awareness, outreach, and public education campaigns
  • Lead strategic and tactical planning and execution to optimize marketing, PR, crisis communications, brand advertising and paid media campaigns across traditional, digital, social media platforms and channels to support campaign plans and goals and monitor their effectiveness; contribute to client and agency needs, as assigned, i.e., conduct market research, develop and write communications and marketing plans, as well as messaging, creative briefs, advertising media plans, etc., that share the creative thinking behind the campaign work. Measure engagement and success of the campaigns.
  • Manage and track labor tasks and hours for client activity reports, direct creative development of graphic assets, other duties as assigned on marketing and communications plan development and executions
  • Manage and track operational performance of strategic communications and PR, advertising, outreach and engagement of client accounts, ensuring quality work, deadline and budget adherence; prepare media plans, insertion orders and authorization to bids (ATBs); prepare and present account measurement growth reports
  • Serve as daily account lead with meeting regularly with traditional and digital advertising vendors and client contacts
  • Act as account lead, when appropriate; maintain ongoing proactive and consistent communications with clients on account progress performance; troubleshoot internal and client pain points suggesting remedial courses of action and problem resolution; address vendors and client issues thoughtfully and effectively
  • Conduct landscape and competitive analyses, audience research and other market research; gather materials necessary to understand the project, such as literature or previous marketing campaigns; analyze materials to determine the most effective communications technique(s)
  • Draft and propose communications campaigns, based on research, assessments and data, which may include traditional, digital and social, email, video and other multimedia
  • Manage subcontractors providing the strategic planning and execution for optimized paid media campaigns across traditional platforms
  • Work with third-party traditional advertising vendors, as needed, to plan, manage, activate, measure and optimize paid media campaigns
  • Build relationships with emerging technology i.e., AI, media, third-party influencers and internal and external business partners to meet client and agency needs
  • Troubleshoot internal and client pain points suggesting remedial courses of action; address vendors and client issues thoughtfully and effectively

Measurement and Reporting

  • Define KPIs and evaluate the impact of traditional, digital and social marketing, advertising and PR efforts on reputation, perception, traffic, loyalty and more
  • Engage traditional and digital advertising measurement and reporting strategy across all SRB and client campaigns; prepare reports and present to clients
  • Translate brand value and mission with traditional and digital advertising tactics to reach target audiences, generate leads and achieve successful and measurable results for clients
  • Consistently produce high-quality excellent internal and external campaign reporting

Outreach and Engagement

  • Develop and implement community outreach strategies that align with client goals and reflect local community values
  • Build and maintain relationships with community groups, organizations, and local leaders
  • Plan and execute community-based events, partnerships and grassroots campaigns
  • Create culturally relevant messaging that resonates with various audiences of underserved and marginalized populations, and enhances brand trust
  • Monitor community feedback and sentiment to inform campaign strategy and communications i.e., developing outreach and engagement plans
  • Identify, map, and prioritize key stakeholder groups, including government entities, business leaders, nonprofits, media and internal partners
  • Develop and deliver tailored stakeholder communication plans and engagement strategies
  • Coordinate stakeholder meetings, briefings, and presentations to support client initiatives
  • Manage ongoing stakeholder relationships and maintain clear, consistent communication
  • Gather and synthesize stakeholder feedback to guide messaging, positioning, and overall campaign effectiveness
  • Ensure alignment between stakeholder engagement efforts and broader marketing, PR, crisis communications and business objectives

Video Production

Serve as in-house producer for clients and the agency

  • Broadcast and multimedia – Create, conceptualize, and craft content, and write scripts for all broadcast and multimedia platforms for clients and the agency
  • Video, TV and radio production and post-production – Produce short videos television and radio commercials and public service announcements (PSAs); select music and talent, lead postproduction in studio and in the field, when necessary

Agency Functional Requirements

  • Assist SRB team in preparing proposals, RFP responses and presentations for new and existing clients and partners
  • Contribute to business growth through introducing clients to new capabilities and technologies, building a network of industry contacts, participating in relevant professional organizations and sharing best practices
  • Commit to continuous learning and improvement of skills; set and pursue stretch goals
  • Contribute to additional client and agency work, as assigned

Key Competencies
Relationship Building and Collaboration: Building and leveraging internal and external relationships to identify and advance mutually beneficial objectives is critical to success in this position. We work in a cross-functional, matrixed organization which necessitates the ability to build partnerships and foster unity among diverse internal and external groups.

Strategic Communication: Strategic communications experience is required to develop and implement communications strategies and programs at scale across the SRB client portfolio and are aligned in partnership with the marketing and communications team. The ability to bring in best practices and trends in strategic communication approaches from across organizations and sectors is an important aspect of this position.

Project and Program Management: Project and program planning, budgeting and management are critical aspects of this position. This includes the ability to plan, budget and mange work across the SRB team, marketing and communication campaigns and projects, and cross-organizational projects, including working with 3rd parties.

Solution-Focused Adaptability: This position requires the ability to identify and articulate a global perspective that also incorporates local perspectives in rapidly evolving environments. It requires the ability to make quick decisions and adapt solutions and resources, while keeping projects on track.

Qualifications

  • 10 - 12 years of experience conceptualizing, developing, implementing, and managing marketing, communications and media strategies that support an entity’s goals. Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field e.g., communications, journalism, industry verticals, required. Master’s degree A PLUS
  • At least five (5) years of relevant experience creating and executing brand awareness, public education, outreach and engagement, and paid media campaigns; digital and social media buy experience.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple small, medium-size and large marketing, advertising, PR, outreach and engagement campaigns simultaneously
  • Experience with mission-oriented strategic communications, PR and media relations and success as a creative and effective communicator.
  • Manage multiple small to large-size marketing and communications and paid media campaigns simultaneously
  • Ability to manage complex communications issues and think strategically, pulling in market best practices and trends.
  • Excellent program management and organizational skills and proven experience leading complex communication projects.
  • Experience leading, managing and developing communications staff.
  • Exceptional verbal and written communications skills.
  • Stellar copywriting, content editing and copy-editing skills and familiarity with Associated Press Stylebook standards.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and familiarity with a variety of communications platforms.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to build relationships in a complex environment.
