Communications and Content Manager

The Commission on the Future of Mobility seeks a savvy communications & content manager to generate compelling content and guide the creative process for our brand. As the content manager, you will be required to research and define desired target audiences, develop and manage the content creation and publishing process, create a variety of original content for earned, owned, shared, and paid media, and monitor content metrics. To ensure success as our content manager, candidates should show a keen eye for detail and be highly creative. They should be an expert storyteller and possess excellent knowledge of both current and future content trends. Knowledge of mobility and transportation policy issues are a plus. If you have 5+ years of experience with a full-service communications and marketing agency, in journalism, or in leading content for an advocacy organization, we would like to hear from you. This position may require occasional travel, and working a flexible schedule outside of normal business hours is required at times due to the global nature of our team and mission. The Communications and Content Manager will report to the Director of Communications. Core Responsibilities
- Drive awareness and demand for CFM by developing an overarching content strategy plan to support the growth goals of the business; ensure campaigns and content supports messaging and strategy.
- Work closely with the core leadership team to evolve the CFM story; disseminate that story to our audience of Commissioners, prospects, government leaders, media, analysts and industry influencers.
- Create and draft compelling and informative content, including website copy, digital newsletters, press releases, blog posts, presentations, webinars/virtual events, social media posts, bi-annual Commissioner reports, videos, talking points and scripts, etc., in partnership with CFM’s policy team and communications agencies.
- Collaborate with our outside agencies to develop an editorial strategy and calendar in our project management software (Monday) that includes owned, earned shared and paid channels, and manage the resources to execute against that strategy.
- Establish frameworks that hold all CFM's content to high standards of clarity, effectiveness, and style, ensuring it is on-message, on-brand, and achieves its full potential.
- Work with our PR agency to develop and maintain relationships with key journalists.
- Work with other internal content generating teams to help educate, guide and develop both visual and written content.
- Set measures of success; interpret and report content performance based on audience insights, keyword research, SEO strategies, messaging themes, and campaign plans, and adjust plans if needed.
- Help define the future coalition narrative and brand as CFM continues to grow and evolve.
- Bachelor's degree in journalism, marketing, communications or similar.
- 5+ years of experience in content creation, digital marketing, SEO, social media, communications or similar with a robust portfolio.
- Communications agency or journalism experience a plus.
- Possess an engaging writing style, creativity and excellent attention to detail.
- Demonstrate a healthy balance of creative, editorial and technical skills.
- Experience working in a fast-paced environment, accepting feedback, and learning quickly.
- Good working knowledge of content and layout design tools such as Adobe InDesign, Photoshop and Canva.
- Proficient with web content best practices, including SEO and uploading content into a content management system, such as WordPress.
- Excellent people skills, supporting interactions with colleagues, cross-functional teams, customers, and distribution teams.
- Able to think strategically, manage multiple tasks, and perform efficiently under tight deadlines.
- Strong project management skills, with an ability to manage own workflow while coordinating with project teams and management on schedules, requirements, goals and assignments as needed.
- Able to communicate clearly and concisely, both verbally and in writing.
- Able to effectively manage relationships, both internally and externally.
- Display a dependable, strong work ethic.
- Fluency in English – verbal and written. Additional languages are always helpful.
