Lead, Social Media
Summary
We are seeking a Lead, Social Media to join SHRM’s Global Brand team. This role is ideal for someone ambitious, creative, and results-driven—ready to take the next step in their career. The Lead, Social Media will own the day-to-day execution of SHRM’s social media presence, while collaborating with an external agency to deliver innovative creative assets.
The ideal candidate is social-native—deeply attuned to platform trends, audience behavior, and cultural conversations. They should have experience working in (or with) agencies on large brands, be fluent in influencer marketing, and thrive in a fast-paced environment managing multiple workstreams. As a people manager, they will guide and mentor direct report(s), modeling collaboration and a “go above and beyond” spirit.
Responsibilities
Strategy and Execution
- Lead the implementation of social media strategies that amplify SHRM’s brand and drive measurable outcomes.
- Oversee day-to-day publishing, engagement, and community management across platforms.
- Partner with agencies to deliver innovative campaigns and best-in-class creative.
Influencer Marketing
- Identify, negotiate, and manage influencer partnerships that expand SHRM’s reach.
- Track performance and optimize influencer campaigns for impact.
Collaboration and Leadership
- Manage and mentor direct report(s), fostering skill development and collaboration.
- Work cross-functionally with brand, comms, events, and advocacy teams to align campaigns.
- Serve as a project lead, balancing multiple priorities and deadlines, and driving initiatives forward.
Measurement and Insights
- Monitor KPIs and audience insights to inform real-time optimization and strategic recommendations.
- Share learnings and best practices to continuously improve performance.
Education & Experience Requirements
Education:
- Bachelor’s degree in marketing or equivalent relevant work experience/training.
Experience:
- 5-7 years of professional experience in social media marketing (agency or in-house, big-brand experience preferred).
- Experience running influencer campaigns from strategy to reporting.
- Previous experience mentoring or managing team members a plus.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
- Ability to effectively leverage artificial intelligence (AI) tools and technologies to streamline workflows, enhance productivity, and improve overall work quality.
- Strong knowledge of social platforms (LinkedIn, Instagram, X, TikTok, YouTube) and emerging trends.
- Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects at once in a fast-paced environment.
- Excellent communication skills and collaborative spirit.
- Creative thinker who is also outcome-driven and detail-oriented.

Work Environment
Hybrid Position (3 Days In-Office, 2 Days Remote):
- This position follows a hybrid work schedule, with Tuesday through Thursday in office and Monday and Friday remote. Employees must be available during standard business hours, with core hours beginning between 8:00AM – 9:00AM and concluding between 5:00PM – 6:00PM.
